Hello and thank-you for stopping in to visit Bearhaven Bouviers. This is our why, our drive, and our story:

Our Bouvier: Bear
It all started December 1994 with our first Bouvier, Sheba, who came from a backyard breeder. Sheba came with some baggage that almost made us never have another dog! Then along came Silver whom we adopted at five years of age. He was the most well trained and well mannered dog ever, to the point that I would always say he should have had a top hat! He was the perfect gentleman, always prim and proper. A few years later we bought our first registered purebred Bouvier: Roxy. She was unfortunately born with a liver shunt and lived until the age of two.
Through some internet searching I had come across another breeder in B.C. where we got our next Bouvier from “Bear”. This is the Bouvier that really got it all started! Bear was our first showdog, and was the one who kept me connected to my mentor and friend, Victoria Wellwood from Breugel Bouviers! We fell so much in love with the Breugel Bouviers, that then got our next two dogs (Nikita and Gabbi) from there. Followed by our son getting his first Bouvier Maverick, and our daughter-in-law soon after got herself a Bouvier from Victoria too! So, as it happens, we became a part of the Breugel Bouviers family, with Victoria over time moving into mentoring me into becoming a breeder as well.
Our Bear passed away in 2021 just before his 12th birthday, taking a large piece of my heart with him. I knew then that I needed to honour him by naming our breeding kennel after him. With that Bearhaven Bouviers was formed. Our first three litters are from a wonderful girl, Berta, who I leased from Victoria to get started. So those three litters are registered under the Breugel Bouviers. Berta became a big part of our family, and is a lot like Bear. She has now retired from breeding and remains with us!
Since the laws in Alberta and much of Canada have changed, and no longer allow vets to crop and dock, all of our puppies will have their full natural tails. We also don’t crop our dogs ears, our pups are completely natural. This also means you probably will not see our dogs in the conformation rings being shown, as the Bouvier written standard has nor been changed to allow natural tails. However, you will see some of us in the performance and obedience rings, and starting drafting and dock diving with our dogs!
